Onglyza and Kombiglyze
Onglyza and Kombiglyze
Onglyza and Kombiglyze are drugs used to treat type II diabetes. The drugs are used along with diet and exercise to lower blood sugar in adults with Type 2 Diabetes by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the body after meals when blood sugar is high.
Onglyza and Kombiglyze have been linked to an increased risk of heart failure. Studies have shown an increased rate of emergency room visits and hospitalizations related to heart failure, congestive heart failure, cardiac failure, and death while on Onglyza and Kombiglyze. The FDA Endocrinologic and Metabolic Drug Advisory Committee found an increased risk of heart failure, especially in patients with higher cardiovascular risk or impaired renal function.
